With a voice like Stevie Wonder, lead man Jason Kay has brought the eclectic underground sound of Jamiroquai to the forefront of the British and U.S. dance scenes. Combining '70s soul and R&B with '90s pop/hip hop/ambient rhythms, the group has earned a name for themselves as one of the hottest groups to take us into the new millennium. Before signing with Sony and releasing their debut album, 1993's Emergency On Planet Earth, Jamiroquai hit the U.K. dance scene with the hot single "When You Gonna Learn?" on Acid Jazz Records. It wasn't before long that Kay and the rest of the group, Derrick McKenzie (drums), Toby Smith (keyboards), Stuart Zender (bass) and Wallis Buchanan (vibes player), exploded all over England. Once Emergency hit the States, Jamiroquai's future was sealed. The group released their 1995 platinum album, Return of the Space Cowboy and followed that with Traveling Without Moving. | ||
